 Description

I have been working with several organizations that have been involved in the BI Connector Beta program. It has been very obvious that many organizations are struggling with configuring SSL so that they can evaluate the BI Connector. (See SUPPORT-1826) Therefore, I think it is necessary to have a tutorial on our site that walks someone through the process of configuring SSL (not necessarily in a secure way) so that they can experiment with the BI Connector.

Because this process is painful and a number of SAs and customers have struggled with it, I put together a document that describes a process for creating all the required keys and certs and testing the configuration. This document could likely serve as the starting point for a tutorial.

I will attach it to this ticket.

Hi steve.renaker A very common scenario is a user attempting to set up authenticated connection to a remote instance of the BI Connector.

Pretty high, but I'd need to answer that relative to other tickets in the queue. I will say that our customer have significant difficulty with SSL. I just helped out two customers today during MongoDB.local SoCal.

The linked section of the BI Connector overview, titled "Secure Client Connection and Authentication", contains detailed instructions on key and certificate generation. Including a bash script which generates all keys and certificates needed for the example.
