 Description

I want to start a mongod instance using the SCRAM-SHA-1 authentication mechanism but when I run the following command as shown in the example I get the following error:

mongod --setParameter authenticationMechanisms=SCRAM-SHA-1 --auth --port 27017

BadValue Illegal --setParameter parameter: "authenticationMechanisms"

Resolved with OP - they were on 2.6.10, which is why the parameter wasn't supported.

Following up with OP via email.

I'm having trouble reproducing your issue (my v3.2 instance starts up with no problem). Can you confirm what version of MongoDB you're on? Also, does your MongoDB deployment have users in it already? The documentation Jira project is used for issues related to the documentation, so I'd like to see if there's something we should be including regarding auth schema upgrades if that's potentially posing a problem.
