 Description   

Since the serverselectiontimeout doesn't carry a default value, if the client URI points to an invalid/unavailable mongod instance, the commands such as insert may block indefinitely. The default value should be 30000 ms as per the spec.

This is fixed here: https://github.com/mongodb/mongo-go-driver/blob/12b7dca2ce8fe45b44a5e19df50f2ea121b5f2d9/core/topology/topology.go#L221-L224.
