 Description

decimal data type is a very good new feature in mongodb 3.4. But unfortunately, java driver 2.14 do not support it.
Of course, upgrading to java driver 3.4 is an option, but the fact is, java driver 2.x version is widely used in production environment.
So, supporting decimal type in java driver 2.14 will be a great idea for application developer.

Hi xbwen,

Thanks for the ticket, since the release of the 3.x series of the driver, 2.x series has been put into maintenance mode. Currently, there are no plans to add extra functionality to the 2.x series. The 3.x series has been rearchitected and provides the very best experience for users using Java and MongoDB.

As you mentioned above Decimal support was added to the Java driver in 3.4 along with other new MongoDB features. I'd be interested to know what impediments (if any) there are that preventing you the upgrade to the 3.x series of the driver?
