There's no need to do this until the driver needs to take advantage of a Java 10 library, so closing as Won't Fix.

The plugin com.bmuschko.nexus  is not maintained anymore.
I think it's not compatible with latest version of Gradle.

The release 4.8 of Gradle provides the Maven Publish Plugin :

The maven-publish is now considered stable and use of the maven plugin is discouraged as it will eventually be deprecated — please migrate.
This new publishing support is the preferred option for publishing artifacts and will eventually replace publishing via the Upload task.

OK. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Farès Hassak  I had to revert the 4.7 upgrade, as I was unable to release 3.8.0-beta2 with Gradle 4.7.

Message: JAVA-2844: Revert gradle upgrade

After the upgrade from Gradle 4.5.1 to 4.7, we're no longer able
to release the driver, as the uploadArchives task uploads to the
Sonatype snapshot repository rather than the staging repository even
when the version does not end with "-SNAPSHOT".

Reverting this change until we can determine the root cause.
