In order to pave the way for the 3.0 driver, deprecate the custom encoders and decoders as they will not be supported in the new driver |

Thinking about this a bit more, I don't think it makes sense to deprecate something for which we don't have a replacement. Maybe after 3.0 comes out we can deprecate this in 2.12.0 |
