Source connector currently supports schema in Avro format using the below properties; output.format.value=SCHEMA
Confluent Kafka as of v5.5 also supports JSON Schemas (https://json-schema.org/understanding-json-schema).
This is ticket is implement support for JSON Schema for source connector. |

Just to clarify you can use the Kafka converters to output to Json Schema. The configuration for defining the schema just uses the less verbose Avro schema definition. Kind Regards, Ross |

Hi rachitagrawa@hotmail.com, We chose to initially go with AVRO to define the JSON schema as it is more succinct. We will consider adding JSON schemas in a future release. |
