 Description

Google Protocol Buffers is a widely used mechanism for serializing structured data. We use the format in several projects and with different messaging systems (including Apache Kafka).
It would be great if the Kafka Connector would support this format.

Hi FrVaBe,

I believe if you use the Kafka Connect ProtoBuf Converter then you should be take messages that are in protobuf format and sink them to MongoDB. The converter layer is above the connector and in this case handles the translation from ProtoBuf to Kafka data structs / schema - which the connector can handle.

We may or may not support this - please follow KAFKA-40 for updates on the direction implementation follows.

I didn't want to set the priority to Major - P3, but can't find a way to change that.
