This is a handy convenience method that exists in SQL.
Ideally password have an expiration date, and users are asked to change their passwords.

The following privilege enables a user to change its own password:

{ resource: {cluster: true}, actions: [ "changeOwnPassword" ] }

Creating a user-defined role with that privilege and granting that role to a user has the desired effect.
