It would be incredibly useful to be able to access the shardName for a particular server when talking to it. Currently, this information is only available via the config/mongos. I spoke with greg_10gen and he said this information is already available, but not exposed. isMaster currently has the setName, it seems like it would be the logical place to add the shardName. |

We can do this in getShardVersion pretty trivially. |
