It is not currently possible to set the minimum log severity in the shell higher than 1. A stackable -v command-line option could be added (like mongod), or the current --verbose flag could take an integer argument. |

We've deprecated the mongo shell in favor of the new mongosh . Unfortunately, we aren't able to pursue improvements to the deprecated shell except in extreme cases, such as critical security fixes. Can you please start making use of mongosh and let us know if it works for you in this case? |

I think, like mongod, having both a command-line option and a helper method would be best.

Would that be better or a function to set it from the (js) shell? Do you want to debug things before the js engine is init'd? |
