 Description

We have about 600GB of data spread across 4x shards. If we want to drain one shard, is it possible to pause and resume that process with some command?

Also, what kind of performance impacts have you seen when draining a shard?

Yes, you can pause draining by pausing the balancer.

Performance impact is about the same as adding a shard.
With 2.4, it shouldn't be very noticeable unless the system is overloaded (in which case removing one shard probably isn't advisable anyway).
