Thanks for looking into this Ernie, 2.6.3 packages would be great!

Comment by Ernie Hershey [ 19/Sep/14 ]

Okay, thanks for the info. It looks like we will at least have 2.6.5 packages for Ubuntu 14.04. I'll see if I can also generate 2.6.3 packages.

Comment by Stuart Ingram [ 19/Sep/14 ]

Hi Ernie,

2.6.3 is our current deployment target, we are not planning on adopting 2.6.5 unless there is compelling reason.
To answer your question 2.6.3 would be ideal but I suspect for local testing/development 2.6.5 should be sufficiently close enough but I have not reviewed what is in the pending build.

Thanks

We don't have enterprise packages for Ubuntu 14.04 yet. The current packages are only supported in Ubuntu 12.04. The work is mostly done but we have to generate new packages and (most likely) backport the change for 2.6.5. I notice you're trying to install 2.6.3. Is that the version you would need to install in 14.04? Or when 2.6.5 comes out and is the recommended latest stable version, will that meet your needs?

Ubuntu 14 "Trusty Tahr"
Mongo Enterprise server 2.6.3

Error: Could not update: Execution of '/usr/bin/apt-get q -y -o DPkg::Options::=-force-confold --force-yes install mongodb-enterprise-server=2.6.3' returned 100: Reading package lists...

Cursory investigation yielded...

sudo apt-get install libsnmp15
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package libsnmp15 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
libsnmp30:i386 libsnmp30 libsnmp-base

E: Package 'libsnmp15' has no installation candidate

Let me know if I can help in any other way.

Hi ingrams2@upmc.edu can you let me know the command you ran, the OS you're on, and the error you got? Also what fix are you saying should be backported? (this ticket was for the 2.5 release series, pre-2.6, and didn't result directly in a commit to backport).

Comment by Stuart Ingram [ 11/Sep/14 ]

I just ran into this issue also in local testing. It would be useful to backport the package dependency fix to 2.6.x for Ubuntu 14 "Trusty"

Comment by Eric Milkie [ 20/Feb/14 ]

jonathan.abrahams this ticket is set to fixVersion = 2.7.x, so it is scheduled for completion with the other work in server version 2.7.
Should this work need expediting, we can set the Backport field to yes so that when the work is done, it will be considered for backporting into the next subsequent 2.6.x version.

Any estimate on this fix?
