 Description

I have mongodb(2.4.5) deployed in production environment on RHEL. I have 64GB of total available space for '/data'. My existing usage is as below:
datasize: 2.5 GB
storageSize: 2.9 GB
fileSize: 20GB
As file is pre-allocated space by Mongo, 26 GB of server space is occupied for around 3 GB of actual data. Now we have requirement of using the same server for another around 7 GB of data.
Considering current disk space utilisation:
1. How much would be the disk space usage?
2. Do I need to ramp up disk space for '/data'?
3. Is there anyway for me to restrict file size occupying disk space 7-8x times of actual data size?

I appreciate your response..

Thanks,
Prateek

The server project is for reporting bugs in MongoDB server and enhancement requests.

This question is being discussed and answered in Google Group for mongodb-users.
