 Description

Mongod has the --quota options which allow one to cap the number of files a database can use. Similar functionality is requested for capping the total amount of disk usage that the server can use.

This of primary concern when MongoDB is co-existing with other services on a machine, and it is important to not starve them out.

This is really difficult to achieve in a distributed system.

The ability to cap usage on a per-user or per-group basis would be particularly useful since you could prevent one app from starving out others in a shared environment. That may be a separate but related issue.
