 Description

java app stopped writing messages to mongo namespace. we noticed the following error message in the mongo log:
Mon Jul 21 00:24:42 [conn22049396] quota exceeded for namespace: mgwhap.mongodbcollections1

We are using the mongo community version. Do we need to increase the quota files or do we need to upgrade to a commercial version?
Thanks

Thomas,
Thanks. Does this means that mongo will not reuse data freed up from existing files and will keep creating new files?
Thanks,
Roberto

The --quota and --quotaFiles options are not required. If you do not want to limit the number of files that MongoDB can open you can remove these options and restart mongodb.

I hope this helps.

Thomas

Thomas,
Thanks for your quick response. Yes. We are using the quotaFiles parameter. I thought the parameters:quota and quotafiles were recommended parameters. Can you please confirm if I should remove them and do I need to restart mongodb instance?
Thanks,
Roberto

Hi Roberto,

It appears you're using the --quota (and potentially also the --quotaFiles) command line option(s). You need to remove the option(s), or increase the --quotaFiles value. This is not a limitation of the community version of MongoDB.

Please note: The SERVER project is for reporting bugs or feature suggestions for the MongoDB server.

For MongoDB-related support discussion please post on the mongodb-user group (http://groups.google.com/group/mongodb-user) or Stack Overflow with the mongodb tag.
