For example, if you pass "CC=clang CXX=clang++" to scons in a 2.6 build, it will silently ignore this and use the default compiler. |

Removing backport requested for 3.0 as the required behavior is already implemented there. |

I was coincidentally just trying this in 3.0 and couldn't reproduce it. I think it only affects 2.6. |
