tcmalloc is now the default allocator for MongoDB.

jemalloc could be worth a good look as well. It too might be somewhat inclined to move stuff around more than glibc if reallocing alot, but don't quote me on that.

eliot comments that this is probably going to be a bad solution for us in general since realloc calls in tcmalloc generally fail to return the same buffer more often than realloc calls in glibc malloc. we do a lot of reallocs, so that is important.
