 Description

"Everywhere on the web users can search case insensitive, except when your site is based on a database like mongodb."

Where all users at the moment uses case insensitive everywhere, i think it is good that mongodb will support fast search on that on indexes as well as on full table scans. Even things like Ë can be find by searching just for e. If mongodb can handle this, this database can better be used daily.

So please provide a way so all searches are automatically be done in a case insensitive manner.

But this could double the size of the file.
In my case I need to look for street names. Example:
street: Forte São José
And users usually type (especially those using smartphone):
street: forte sao jose

I know that as we already have a solution that is not priority right now. But other databases (relational) do that. They could at least put this Freature as a low priority targets.
thanks!

See SERVER-90

Note: you can toLower() in your app and have 2 fields in mongo if needed
