 Description

We need to assign splitVector permissions to our Hadoop reader. My understanding (which may be wrong due to limited docs) is that splitVector "finds split points", which is a read-only command. The clusterMonitor has all readonly cluster commands except for "splitVector". It'd be nice to add it so that I don't have to create a new role.

Hi Ben,

Thank you for filing this request.

The splitVector command is for internal only usage between MongoS and MongoD. We might change the behaviour of this command (or completely remove it) without notice and as such we don't want to encourage people to use it.

We have ticket SERVER-10117 to track requests around splitVector, but for the time being we are not planning on making it any more user friendly.

That being said, would you mind updating SERVER-10117 with how the Hadoop reader uses splitVector. Having more context will help us figure out whether supporting this command is the right choice, or there something better that we can do in sharding.
