 Description

Hello Team,

I am just trying to remove the data from the collection, data is completely removed from the collection but the DB path still holds the data file (.wt) which unnecessarily increases the HDD space.

The db.collection.stats() shows that count, size as 0 but the storage size still holds a value.

So, I took the wired tiger uri from the stats and searched for the .wt file from data file path. Without a surprise the file was present with the same size.

Also attaching the files for your perusal.

Please let me know if it s bug or a normal behavior.

Thanks
Sundar

Hi sundarajan.s@gmail.com,
This is normal and expected behavior. If you remove all the data from your collection, the space allocated for the data on disk will not be reclaimed unless you run a compact on that collection.
