 Description

MongoDB has a number of read path operations that can write to the file system such as MapReduce and aggregation with

{allowDiskUse: true}

. To enable these features to function in read-only mode, we should allow users to specify a writable 'scratchpad' directory to which these temporary files can be written.

We think this will impact existing user expectations and due to the lack of interest in the last 5 years we are closing this.
