Hi Jorn, You cannot use the --oplog flag for mongodump via mongos; each shard has a separate oplog. A sharded cluster has additional considerations in order to properly capture a consistent backup of each shard as well as the cluster metadata on the config servers. For supported procedures please see Backup and Restore Sharded Clusters in the MongoDB manual. Please also note that the SERVER project is for reporting bugs or feature suggestions for the MongoDB server. For MongoDB-related support discussion you can post on the mongodb-user group or Stack Overflow with the mongodb tag, where your questions will reach a large audience of MongoDB users, developers and enthusiasts.
