We are currently using Mongo 2.4, which is scheduled to go End of Life in March of this year, according to the support schedule: https://www.mongodb.com/support-policy We are therefore considering upgrading all of our modules to use Mongo 2.6 (easiest upgrade path from where we are now). However, the support schedule linked above lists the End of Life date as "TBD", which isn't helpful. Given your general policy of "18 months from release or 1 year from next release whichever is longer", it seems as though 2.6 may not be supported much longer either. Can you tell us when 2.6 will go End of Life? This will affect our decision as to whether we do a quick upgrade from 2.4 to 2.6, or a more involved upgrade to the latest 3.2 if it turns out that 2.6 will not be supported much longer. Thanks. |

scorbett, I got confirmation that 2.6 will indeed be EOL soon, so our recommendation is that you plan to upgrade to MongoDB 3.2. Please be aware that you'll need to go through 2.6 and then 3.0 to be able to upgrade to 3.2, and there are some downgrade limitations (here and here) along the way, so I'd recommend you go from 2.4 to 2.6.11 to 3.0.9 to (at least) 3.2.2 (to be released next week). If you need assistance with the upgrade you can post on the mongodb-user group or Stack Overflow with the mongodb tag, since the SERVER project is for reporting bugs or feature suggestions for the MongoDB server. See also our Technical Support page for additional support resources. Regards, |

scorbett, I'm working on finding out the details about 2.6. I'd encourage you to consider using a more recent version not only for added features, but also to be sure your version will be supported for a longer period of time. |
