It could be very useful if each mongod tracked the type and number of database commands run on each node, both since the last restart and since the beginning of time. |

We do track them in serverStatus, which in addition to FTDC should give you a pretty good history. |

Yes, but we could keep these counts in memory and only batch-write them to disk every N seconds or when the system is less busy. |

Wouldn't "beginning of time" require that the database do an extra write for each and every database command, even those that do no writes themselves? |
