Doing so would allows us to ensure downgrade compatibility between major versions without waiting to release the next version. Additionally, we wouldn't be subjected to build failures caused by downloading a version of MongoDB that lacks a fix which has already been committed to the 3.2 branch but isn't in the latest official release. |
