I've installed the mongodb-stable Ubuntu package and it seems to be missing the mongosniff command line tool which is available with the binary download. Is it possible to get this tool added to the package? Note: I've tried downloading it with the basic Linux binary download and running it but I get: ./mongosniff: error while loading shared libraries: libpcap.so.0.9: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory While I'm sure I could figure out a fix for this, it would be ideal if the tool was part of the package as that's how I manage my mongo install(s). Thanks! |

Mongosniff was replaced by mongoreplay in Mongo 3.4, so closing this ticket. |

The binaries we provide are all statically linked with the exception of mongosniff because libpcap contains code that uses the original 4-clause BSD license with the advertising clause, rendering it incompatible with the GPL. This requires distribution specific packaging. |

I'd like to see MMS available in the Ubuntu repository as well. |

This is still missing from the mongodb-10gen package:

ln -s /usr/lib/libpcap.so.0.8 /usr/lib/libpcap.so.0.9 both seem to work just fine. |
