 Description

Moving from --options to VARIABLES lost the discoverability of --help. As an example, the only way I see to find the VARIANT_DIR setting is searching in the SConstruct file.

redbeard0531 Can you please take ownership of this ticket and either resolve it per the CR or close it out if you are no longer interested in doing it?

I think the output of --help is controlled by SCons, not us. Perhaps there is a way to amend it? I'm not sure. I agree the two level thing is not ideal.

acm Ahh, I missed that since the variable-related options aren't well grouped in --help. Any reason not to just include it in --help rather than adding a second level?

Try scons --variables-help
