Operating System: ALL
Steps To Reproduce:

I recently upgraded to 3.0.12, and noticed this message in my log file. I was pretty sure I had installed the hotfix 6 months ago, but I am 57 and those kinds of details flitter out of my brain. Anyway, I pulled the hotfix and ran the install, and was informed that it is already installed.

I am running an SSD, so perhaps that has shielded me from the performance hit of zeroing out files.

Downloaded and installed the latest. All good.

ehallander, this is a known issue captured in SERVER-23277, so I'm closing this ticket as a duplicate.

A fix for this behavior will be included in 3.0.13, to be released later this year. The impact is that your system may perform slow file allocation for MMAPv1 files – if that's an issue for you I'd recommend you upgrade to MongoDB 3.2.6.

Regards,
Ramón.
