 Description

When the shell tries to kill processes, it initially sends SIGTERM, and then SIGKILL a few seconds later if the process hasn't died already. If the process hasn't actually terminated by then, it crashes which causes tests to fail.

How will not exiting the shell cause tests to not fail? At least I'm assuming that's the goal – it's not explicit in this ticket.
Instead, perhaps we should simply raise the timeout for waiting for the process death to occur. It currently doesn't wait very long.
