I have a collection with more than 100M records, We have created index on the search fields, however, it takes lots of time to return count , most of the times, it doesnt return anything. Below are the configuration details of MongoDB,

Server Core: 12
RAM: 32G
Engine: WiredTiger
Collection Size:100G

Please suggest .....

abhishek.mishra@cheersin.com, unfortunately there's not enough information here to determine if you've found a bug or if this is expected behavior.

Can you please:

  • elaborate on the meaning of "doesnt work" in the ticket title? Is the operation taking a long time to complete? Is is returning incorrect results?
  • upload the mongod logs for the node where you're issuing the count() query during the time you're running this operation?
  • provide the list of indexes you have on the affected collection as well as the exact count() operation you're running?
  • provide the output of the count() operation when run with explain()?
  • provide details about your setup. Is this a replica set? A sharded cluster?
