My PR has been merged, you can install version 3.5.6 by using --devel option now.

I added 3.5.6 as the devel version and submitted a PR for my change - https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew-core/pull/14628

Comment by Ernie Hershey [ 08/Sep/16 ]

I believe our dev releases were removed in this 3.2.0 commit and we haven't re-added it with 3.3 releases.

Thanks for opening a ticket aorinevo, I'm able to reproduce this behavior on my machine:

$ brew update
Already up-to-date.
$ brew install mongodb --devel
Error: No devel block is defined for mongodb

Unclear to me how much of this is expected, but if it is then we should improve the documentation. Please continue to watch the ticket for updates.

Thanks,
Ramón.
