Thanks DeusProx, glad to hear that you can now install MongoDB. Please note that 3.4 is out and it comes with a lot of improvements and cool new features, so if you're installing from scratch I'd recommend you go with 3.4.

I understand changing repositories every year or so may appear as inconvenient, but having a repository per major version gives users more control on when to perform a major version upgrade. Users can try new major versions in test environments to make sure the upgrade is right for them and can be done at their convenience. Note that major versions may have compatibility changes, so to avoid any issues that may be caused by an automatic major version upgrade by packaging systems we keep these separate repositories.

Regards,
Ramón.

Previously i had no problem with that. It was fine as:

deb http://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu xenial/mongodb-org/stable multiverse

But it seems as it got changed to one repo per release as stated in SERVER-24634
So changing it to the following solved the problem:

deb http://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu xenial/mongodb-org/3.2 multiverse

I think this ticket can be closed then.

P.S.: It's hard for a user to always switch repositories for a newer version. I don't know when this was changed bit it's unintuitiv.

I believe this is expected, since we do not provide the stable directory in the repository, but I'll check.

Can you please see the documentation on installing on Ubuntu, tweak your repository as described there, and try again?

Thanks,
Ramón.
