| Description |
|
The Windows minidump (.mdmp) file naming should be similar to the pattern used for Linux, dump_<proc name>.<pid>.core. It is currently <proc_name>.<timestamp>.mdmp and should be similar to dump_<proc name>.<pid>.mdmp |

mark.benvenuto If you want to keep the timestamp in the file name, do you suggest we should change the Linux core dump file name instead to also have the timestamp? |

mark.benvenuto Thanks for pointing that out, I've clarified the complete file name, with a '.mdmp' extension. |

Actually, ".mdmp" is the standard file extension on Windows for a minidump. Using ".core" would be wrong, and lead to usability problems since users could no longer double-click on the file to open it or easily open it with "File->Open" which looks for "*.mdmp". |
