 Description

Shutdown from shell seems to occur, but throws an exception while doing so. Could be due to changes in the shell API wrt findOne().

I can no longer reproduce the behavior noted in this ticket.

yes, if you have the mongos logs for this problem, it would be useful to see them along with a short description of your setup - how hosts do you have, are they configured in replica sets or sharded, how long have they been running when you see this issue?

On our Linux servers, calling db.shutdownServer() for a mongod process will occasionally cause CPU usage to ramp up and stay at 100%, rendering our ssh sessions unresponsive. Unfortunately, the log files do not seem to contain anything relevant to this issue, even with -vvv logging enabled. However, if you would like to look at them, we can attach them to this issue.

Docs should be updated as well, once behavior is normalized.
