 Description

For some secure environments we prefer that the snmp libraries not be present on the host. Although snmp must be explicitly enabled, we'd still like the currently required snmp libraries to be optional, dynamically loaded, by the mongod only if required by the configuration.

Dear Security team,

We have a prospect  DBS Bank is looking for this feature. DBS bank has a bank-wide security policy where SNMP is not approved for use. Consequently, all servers are not allowed to be installed with SNMP-related libraries.  To install and run the MongoDB enterprise version,  we have to remove net-snmp and net-snmp-libs from dependencies.

I was wondering whether there is any roadmap for this "Deprecate SNMP support" ticket. For more detail about the DBS case, please check HELP-22141.

Many thanks,

Lin
