 Description

Note from Richard: "I think it'd be good to hold off on changing the init scripts until 2.0 is about to be released, so that we don't need to fork two init scripts for 1.8 and 1.9. (since it'd not actually be two but 6)"

We can do this conditionally using --shutdown if it is available, even if we need to support versions without it.

$ mongod --help | grep shut
--shutdown kill a running server (for init scripts)
