 Description

This work is separate from the tickets for implementing the new expressions (e.g. SERVER-39695) because it depends on SERVER-39693.

It is also separate from the work to make the existing regex MatchExpression error, since that changes the behavior of a pre-existing feature. This is tracked by SERVER-39697.

david.storch, done. Invalidation of regex is already implemented as part of $regexFind.
