 Description

The mongo shell can still insert and read the subtype of \x02 Binary (Old) (per BSON spec) while reading from that causes driver exceptions. If there isn't a functional reason to allow the shell to insert these documents, the capability should be removed.

This has been identified as work that the SDP team won't do in the near term. Please reopen with a comment if you feel this work should be reprioritized and explain why.

Moving this ticket to the Backlog and removing the "Backlog" fixVersion as per our latest policy for using fixVersions.

For read function, I noticed it read it differently (possibly incorrectly) compared to the java driver.
