hie, I have DOUBT about the "_id" field. I am using my collection name as a combination of three _id's and there is a limit of collection name is 120 bytes. currently, there is no issue. If _id length is gone increase in the future then it creates a problem to create a collection in MongoDB. So, my question is:- Is there any possibility of the changes in the length of the _id field in the future? |

The current maximum length of the collection namespace will be removed in the next major release of MongoDB. So even if the size of _id happens to change, you will still be able to use the described combination as there won't be anymore size limit on the collection namespace. I hope this helped answering your question. That said, the SERVER project is for bugs and feature suggestions for the MongoDB server. As this ticket does not appear to be a bug, I will now close it.
