If you want to get a prompt for the password, our documentation mentions that you need to pass an empty string to --password "", or your need to pass the --username option without --password. That said, the SERVER project is for bugs and feature suggestions for the MongoDB server. As this ticket does not appear to be a bug, I will now close it.
