 Description

Hello,

We are a startup technology company. We are planing to use MongoDB for production purposes. Our product is not release yet and we plan to do so in Q1 of 2012. We deliver our solution to clients via Application Service Model (ASP). We are exploring the best practices for the MongoDB server setup / configuration. Here are the current assumptions:

  • Database should handle 100 TB data in 1-2 years.
  • Documents are stored in the GridFS.
  • We would like to have 100% uptime. Ofcourse there may be scheduled maintenance.
  • Secure and reliable

Can you recommend best practices in terms of server configurations for (hardware, backup and recovery, replication & availability, cluster/cloud formation)?

Thanks

These types of questions are better asked on the group (http://groups.google.com/group/mongodb-user/) where the community can help answer. You may also find lots of useful information there already if you have read up on these various planning topics and scalability designs.

You may also find that talking to someone at office hours might be helpful as well: http://www.10gen.com/office-hours (please not that the NYC and Redwood shores office have moved this week.)
