Note there is a HUGE speed improvement available if using 'ss' instead of 'netstat'. But, ss (IIRC) is only available on Linux 2.6+ systems, so maybe not everywhere. But, when massive numbers of connections (32k+ of them in our situation), netstat took ~25 seconds, ss took 0.5 seconds. Thus, use it if you can, or just disable netstat on old Linuxes. Also note that netstat and ss take (mostly) the same args, but output columns in a different order. |
