We have some test coverage for the buckets collection metadata and min/max control fields here https://github.com/mongodb/mongo/blob/master/jstests/core/timeseries/timeseries_collation.js We should investigate when time-series collection having a non-simple default collation, or query having a non-simple default collation, or both. |

katherine.wu, would your current time-series/collation work cover the testing mentioned in this ticket such that we could close it as a duplicate? |
