 Description

The gperftools project has released 2.9.1: https://github.com/gperftools/gperftools/releases/tag/gperftools-2.9.1

We should evaluate upgrading to this newer release. Note that this is distinct from the work to evaluate the "new tcmalloc" library.

Updating the fixversion since branching activities occurred yesterday. This ticket will be in rc0 when it’s been triggered. For more active release information, please keep an eye on #server-release. Thank you!

I've filed several issues with the upstream maintainers, and I'm waiting to hopefully hear back from them:

The only one we are really in need for is the last one. If they don't come through with a fix, I will simply make a local modification to disable the generic_fp backtracer for x86.
