 Description

We have a Primary server with Secondary ones.

Sometimes it freezes without any error messages, and it crashes and doesnt take any connection nor respond to commands.

If i do the shutdown command, it logs: got request after shutdown()

I tried to track all the syslogs and mongo logs, I couldn't find anything, just the connection takes too much time to close.

Did anyone ever experience this error? and what was the solution for it?

Hi rhea.moubarak@intm.fr,

Unfortunately without an incident of this on a supported version (>=4.0.latest) we can't provide much guidance on how to resolve this issue. Please note that the SERVER project is for bugs for supported MongoDB versions. As this ticket does not appear to be a bug on a supported version, I will now close it. If you need further assistance troubleshooting, I encourage you to ask our community by posting on the MongoDB Developer Community Forums.

If you're able to upgrade to a supported version and continue to come across unexpected freezes, please let us know and we will be happy to continue our investigation!

Best,
Edwin

Hi Edwin,

No we haven't upgraded to the new version, I am still trying to figure out a temporary solution for the upcoming few months.

Please find attached few useful logs. Let me know if you need anything more.

Best,

Rhea

Hi rhea.moubarak@intm.fr,

We still need additional information to diagnose the problem. If this is still an issue for you, would you please upgrade MongoDB to a supported version and collect stack traces if it continues to hang?

Best,
Edwin

Hi rhea.moubarak@intm.fr,

MongoDB v3.2 reached end of life in September 2018 and is no longer supported. Can you please upgrade to MongoDB v4.0+ by following our upgrade tutorial and verify if your server continues to freeze?

If your cluster continues to hang, can you please provide the following:

  1. Archive (tar or zip) the mongod.log files and the $dbpath/diagnostic.data directory (the contents are described here)
  2. Collect stack trace samples with gdb during the freeze.

    # collect stack trace samples with gdb
gdb -p $(pidof mongod) -batch -ex 'thread apply all bt' >gdb.txt

Then can you please upload those files to this support uploader location.

Best,
Edwin
