 Description

It would be worthwhile to tune the values chosen in the wired tiger config string used for column indexes. This will very likely include allowing some form of block compression.

As part of the project scope, we also want to expose the ability for the user to specify and tune block compression for the indexes.

Just clarifying, justin.seyster@mongodb.com - as part of this ticket, let's pause on exposing any sort of user-facing knobs to fine-tune compression. There are others who have thoughts on what the UX should look like here, and we'll re-visit and user-facing knobs post 6.3.

Grabbing this for now to track the investigation of how much implementation will be need to take full advantage of block compression.
