 Description

Having different defaults for 32 and 64 bit platforms needlessly complicates things for newcomers to MongoDB, because it forces people to learn two different sets of ops tricks for mangaing mongod processes. (Or worse, it causes them to habituate to learning only the non-journaled ops tricks that are dangerous in production, i.e., --repair.)

Closing as we are no longer working on 32-bit versions of the server.

Linking to SERVER-3595 for posterity's sake.

Implementing this change request would fulfill SERVER-4793's issue's change request.

Documentation changes needed: if we document the behavioral skew re: journaling on 32- and 64-bit platforms, we should undocument it if we make this change.
