 Description

The sys-perf* Evergreen project compiles the server without making use of the shared SCons cache.

  • A clean build of the server takes 3 hours when using the amazon2-arm64-small Evergreen distro. (for example)
  • A clean build of the server takes 50 minutes when using the amazon2-arm64-large Evergreen distro. (for example)

The amazon2-arm64 Evergreen distro is an alias which can be fulfilled by either the amazon2-arm64-small distro or the amazon2-arm64-large distro based on host availability. The sys-perf Evergreen project should instead always compile on the amazon2-arm64-large distro to reduce the wall-clock time.

jeff.zambory@mongodb.com this could be a reason to consider combining sys-perf and mongodb-master projects. We could have these share the same build infra which could mean using the same cache. Just food for thought, no action needed.

Message: SERVER-73400 Compile arm64 server for sys-perf on amazon2-arm64-large.

The "amazon2-arm64" distro alias can be fulfilled by either
amazon2-arm64-small or amazon2-arm64-large depending on Evergreen host
availability and compilation is must faster on -large distros.
