Due to some weird unexplained bug on macosx python will segfault if opentelemetry-sdk or opentelemetry-exporter-otlp-proto-grpc is installed as part of the venv and imported. Since OTEL is not supported on macosx anyway this is totally fine to comment out.
I don't think it is something we will ever need to do but we should track this as an explanation of why the code is structured in a weird way. |
